Welcome to Smokefree- Big Tobacco and the Black Community: The Past, Present and Future, a Blog dedicated to amplifying the fight for Black health equity. In the wealthiest country on the planet, Black people still have the second lowest life expectancy at birth of all racial and ethnic groups in the United States and fare worse than every other group when it comes to health status. Big Tobacco plays a key role in this. Tobacco-Nicotine use is a major contributor to the three leading causes of death among African Americans–heart disease, cancer and stroke. And it’s preventable!

The Colorado Black Health Collaborative- Tackling Menthol in the Black Community Project is here to sound the alarm! Stay engaged with the grassroots work we are doing, informed of the latest policies that are impacting our community. Become educated on the history of the tobacco industry and how it attempts to repackage itself to keep another generation of Black youth hooked on tobacco-nicotine.

CBHC is standing on the frontlines of the health disparity battlefront. We continue to educate our Community and advocate for those who are voiceless and have limited resources. We invite you to learn, spread the word and join the fight!
